How Mindset Shapes Your Goals, Growth and Joy.

Have you ever found yourself thinking:

“I just need to try harder.”
“Why can’t I keep up like other moms?”
“I don’t know what’s wrong with me, I’m always behind.”

If you’ve had thoughts like these, I want to say something you may not hear enough:

You are not lazy. You are not failing. And there is nothing wrong with you.

What’s likely happening is something deeper and quieter:
You’re carrying a mindset shaped by years of overgiving, guilt, and expectations that were never yours to begin with.

What Is “Mindset” Really?

Mindset is simply the filter through which you see yourself and the world.
It shapes how you talk to yourself, what you believe is possible, and how you respond to life.

But most of us aren’t walking around with empowering internal scripts.
We’re walking around with inherited ones. Quiet beliefs that have been running in the background for years, sometimes decades.

Here are just a few examples I hear from moms all the time:

  • “I don’t have time for myself.”
  • “I should be able to handle this without help.”
  • “If I slow down, I’m falling behind.”
  • “I should just be grateful.”
  • “A good mom sacrifices everything.”

These thoughts sound logical. They feel familiar. But that doesn’t mean they’re true.

The Hidden Cost of Unchecked Thoughts

When these thoughts go unchecked, they don’t just live in your head. They live in your nervous system. They shape how your body holds tension, how you breathe, how you move through your day.

And over time, they can drain your energy, your confidence, and your joy.
You start believing you’re lazy when really, you’re overwhelmed by a mindset that isn’t serving you.

This is why traditional “motivation” advice often falls flat for moms:

Because no amount of to-do lists will help if your internal dialogue is working against you.

What Mindset Work Actually Looks Like

Mindset work isn’t about pretending everything is fine.
It’s not about “positive vibes only” or bypassing real emotions.

It’s about noticing the stories you’ve been carrying and gently, compassionately rewriting them.

Here are a few powerful reframes you can try right now.

Old Thought

“I’m behind.”
“I don’t have time.”
“I should have figured this out by now.”
“Other moms are doing it better.”

Reframed Thought

“I’m doing the best I can in this moment.”
“I can give myself 5 intentional minutes.”
“It’s okay to still be learning.”
“My journey doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s.”

Every time you choose a new thought, you disrupt an old pattern.
And over time, those tiny shifts become powerful turning points.

This Is a Core Part of Joyful Reinvention

In my coaching, mindset is one of the three pillars I walk women through (alongside emotional regulation and physical care). Because here’s what I’ve learned:

You can’t step into joy and purpose with a voice in your head telling you you’re not enough.

When your inner dialogue changes, your energy changes.
Then your clarity returns. You feel more grounded, more present, more you.

Ready to Shift the Way You Speak to Yourself?

If this resonated, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to do this work alone.

Start by downloading the free Joy Audit, a simple but powerful tool to help you identify where you’re feeling stuck and what thoughts might be holding you there.

Then, book a free [Joyi Mini Session] with me – a 20-minute coaching call where we’ll look at what came up for you and create one small, supportive next step.

You’re just one thought away from a different experience.
Let’s find that thought together.

Final Words:

You’re not lazy.
You’re not falling short.
You’re simply carrying beliefs that no longer fit who you’re becoming.

And you have the power to shift them – one thought at a time.
